Duncan joined Coldwell Banker Commercial in 2008 as the Director of Operations for the Asset Services team. He brings over 25 years of extensive experience in the commercial real estate management and construction industry.
Prior to joining the firm, Duncan worked for NAI Utah Commercial Property Management in Salt Lake City, where he established and developed the property management division into one of the premier property management companies in the Intermountain West. Throughout his real estate management career, he has managed over 10 million square feet of commercial real estate. In addition, his construction management experience exceeds $18 million of various tenant improvements and construction projects.
Duncan held various positions at NAI Utah, Barlow Nielsen Associates and Price Development including Executive Vice President, Regional Mall Manager, Regional Marketing Director and Retail Leasing Consultant. As Executive Vice President, Duncan established the foundation and development for the property management division of the company. This included solicitation of new business, preparation of operating budgets, hiring personal, development of policies and procedures and the accountability for the successful operation of the company. As a Regional Property Manager he oversaw the administration of a 600,000 square foot regional mall, a 250,000 square foot regional center, and a 100,000 square foot commercial warehouse. As a Regional Marketing Director, Duncan developed and implemented successful annual promotional plans designed to draw customers to shopping centers.
He is highly skilled in overall property operations, including budgets, monthly ownership reporting, service contract negotiation, tenant relations, tenant build-outs and capital project upgrades. Duncan has also developed new commercial retail projects throughout the state of Utah, including anchor store remodels, construction of federal government projects and the development of a 250,000 square foot shopping center in West Valley City, Utah.
Throughout his career, Duncan has also been a trusted advisor to ownership clients in the areas of commercial property valuations, lease negotiations, financial feasibility projects, as well as other economic issues associated with commercial property management.
He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Organizational Communications and Business Management from the University of Utah and the Certified Property Manager (CPM) designation from the Institute of Real Estate Management (IREM). Duncan currently serves as an Executive Officer of the Utah IREM Chapter.
